Dirna Bergstrom was founded in 1980 under the name Dirna, S.A. as a manufacturer of evaporative coolers for agricultural vehicles. At the time, the product was called Bycool. The company soon began to manufacture air conditioning systems for all types of vehicles and has since become the leading company in Europe for the design of air conditioning equipment for commercial vehicles, specialising in the design and manufacture of equipment known as Parking Coolers.

In the year 2000, Dirna S.A. acquired Mitchell, S.A., a subsidiary of the renowned John E. Mitchell Co. (Dallas, USA), a pioneer in Spain in the development of air conditioning systems for vehicles; as an OE manufacturer of air conditioning systems, Mitchell, S.A. participated in supply projects for OEMs such as Renault (Chausson) and Ford (Almusafes). At the end of 2009, the two companies merged under the name Dirna, S.A.

During the following years, the demand for comfort, safety and respect for the environment in industrial and road vehicles, together with the design and development of the Parking Cooler (Bycool) product line, gave Dirna, S.A. an outstanding presence in the international market.

In February 2013, Dirna, S.A. was acquired by Bergstrom Inc., an international leader in the design and manufacture of cab air conditioning systems for heavy commercial trucks, off-road machinery and special vehicles, based in Rockford (Illinois - USA). Since then, the company was renamed Dirna Bergstrom, S.L. and lately, for commercial purposes, Bergstrom Spain.

ENVIRONMENT

Bergstrom Spain is constantly working on the development of new innovative technologies that reduce the environmental impact in the truck sector. Our innovative designs and our range of self-contained electric A/C units with direct connection to the vehicle battery contribute to the protection of the environment by not emitting CO₂ into the atmosphere and reducing fuel consumption.

In addition, Bergstrom Spain has implemented an Environmental Management System whose scope encompasses all the processes of the organisation, so that we control and work to improve the environmental aspects of our activity.
